Born and raised in Bronx, NY in a Hispanic household I wasn't taught much about expressing myself through creative outlets. I was told to go into the medical field or become an engineer but I knew deep down it wasn't the right path for me. It was important to find a career that fulfilled me, that I felt so excited about I can do it without thinking. But it was hard to find what that thing was because those opportunities weren't around me.
As I got older and discovered that there was more to the world, and I knew I wanted it and was determined to chase it. At the age of 14 I received a Fujifilm Instax mini 8 and took it everywhere with me. I enjoyed capturing memories and having them to look back on with my friends and family. Taking photos sparked an indescribable joy inside of me and I knew it was the path for me. I used my eye for aesthetics for my personal photos and instagram but then decided it was time to grow beyond that.
In August 2023 I decided to launch Lucky Jpegs, where I would use my camera to capture emotions and ideas from my head and bring them to life. Through a variety of colors and lighting. Through my art I hope the audience interprets a story of their own imagination. Maybe even find it as inspiration to breakout of the out of date mindsets pushed on them by their families.
